Lorelei. A true Soho time capsule, Lorelei stood quietly on Bateman Street from the 1960s until its closure in 2013. With its Formica tables, oxblood banquettes, and faded mural of the mythical siren, it felt frozen in time - an unpretentious Italian café serving simple pizzas, espresso, and offering a modest BYOB policy that made it a favourite among students, artists, and night owls. Its charm lay in its stubborn authenticity: the kind of place that seemed untouched by the passing decades. Though long gone, Lorelei remains one of those lost Soho institutions still fondly remembered by anyone lucky enough to have stepped inside.
